Freed of London was established 90 years ago, and we just can’t stop celebrating! We are particularly excited for a little Freed of London photo archive project that is underway right now – all to be carried out by former De Monfort University student Carys Fyson.
Freed of London and De Montfort University have has a great working relationship for the past seven years, we especially love meeting and inspiring then students of DMU through competitions, presentations and even personal factory tours.
When Carys Fyson contacted us about her photo archive project we couldn’t wait to get stuck in because we knew just how many wonderful memories we had to share. Carys is a De Montfort University graduate in Photographic History, she plans to go through and analyse Freed of London’s archive of photos from our London, Leicester and New York sites.
Through doing this, she will create not only a physical exhibition, but an online one too, so everyone and anyone can have the opportunity to learn about Freed of London’s rich and interesting history. The brilliant idea doesn’t stop there, Carys also plans to create a platform online and at the exhibition so Freed of London staff and clients can share their own memories, adding a personal touch to the project.
“I feel honoured to be poring over Freed’s beautiful, sometimes amusing, archive material and look forward to bringing you some fantastic events over the coming months.” – Carys Fyson.
We have also partnered up with the De Montfort University for a fantastic competition involving some of their talented and enthusiastic design students – but more about this will soon be revealed!
Although the last 90 years has been wonderful for Freed of London, we are thrilled to be a part of projects such as these and cannot wait to see what the future generations will bring to the industry.
